Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz reportedly will ask the team for a trade this offseason.

Wentz’s relationship with the Eagles has been “all but fractured,” according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

Wentz was benched by the Eagles for rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts during the Eagles’ loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 13.

Since then, Hurts has gone on to beat the New Orleans Saints and put up big numbers over the past three games.

The Eagles offense, which struggled under Wentz, has been much improved in Hurts’ three starts.

The Eagles took Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He has battled injuries but had still been a solid quarterback until this season.

Wentz’s numbers dropped across the board this season, and he threw just 16 touchdowns to 15 interceptions over the Eagles’ first 12 games.

His passer rating saw the biggest drop-off, going from 93.1 during the 2019 season to just 72.8 this year.

If the Eagles move on from Wentz, they will likely turn to Hurts as their quarterback of the future.

Philadelphia took Hurts in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
