Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark wrapped up her inaugural WNBA season not long ago, and it was a roaring success. Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game and was named Rookie of the Year as well as an All-Star.
Additionally, she earned a spot on the All-WNBA First Team and even finished in the top five in the league’s MVP voting as a first-year player.
If Clark’s rookie season is any indication, she might be considered one of the better players in WNBA history when her career comes to an end. But she recently made it clear that she believes Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is the greatest basketball player of all time.

People frequently debate about who the G.O.A.T. of basketball is, and former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan certainly belongs in the conversation. But James probably has as good an argument for that title as anyone who’s ever picked up a basketball.
From an individual standpoint, there’s not much that James hasn’t achieved in the NBA. He has accolades ranging from four MVP awards and 20 All-Star selections to one scoring title and six All-Defensive nods.
The fact that James has led his teams to an unbelievable amount of collective success over the years is also an important part of his G.O.A.T. argument. He is one of only a select number of NBA players to win championships with three different teams. James won two titles as a member of the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers and one more with the Lakers.
He won his most recent title back at the dawn of the decade in 2020. James was a member of the Lakers when he captured his fourth ring, and Los Angeles eliminated Jimmy Butler and the Heat in six games in that year’s championship series.
It should be exciting to find out how Clark will fare in her second season in the WNBA after getting off to such a great start to her professional basketball career. The 2025 campaign will start up on May 16, just over one month after the 2025 WNBA Draft.
