Las Vegas Raiders running back Sincere McCormick appears to be done for the rest of the 2024 season after he suffered an ankle injury on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
McCormick posted a message on social media to thank people who had reached out to him, saying that he’d “be back next season.”
“Hey y’all, I just want to give a shoutout to everybody who kept me in their prayers,” McCormick said. “But it’s nothing too crazy, though. So, honestly, I’ll be back next season. I’m not really even trippin’ about it. I’ll be back better than ever. But, I wanna thank everybody for reaching out.”
McCormick has played in five games for the Raiders this season, making two starts. He’s carried the ball 39 times for 183 yards (4.7 yards per carry). He’s also caught six of his seven targets in the 2024 season for 29 yards. The youngster did not find the end zone for the Raiders in any of those five matchups.
With McCormick seemingly out for the season, the Raiders will likely turn to Alexander Mattison, Ameer Abdullah and Dylan Laube in the backfield over the final three weeks of the regular season.
Las Vegas has matchups remaining with the Jacksonville Jaguars (Week 16), New Orleans Saints (Week 17) and Los Angeles Chargers (Week 18).
Mattison has started five games for the Raiders (playing in 11 total) and has scored four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving). He’s carried the ball 104 times for 341 yards, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry.
Abdullah, a former second-round pick, has played in all 14 of Las Vegas’ games, but he’s been more of a pass catcher out of the backfield. The veteran has 39 carries for 158 yards and a touchdown, but he’s been targeted 37 times in the passing game, catching 32 passes for 182 yards and three scores.
There’s no doubt that the Raiders will miss McCormick in the lineup, as he ran for 64 yards in Week 13 and 78 yards in Week 14 before getting injured against Atlanta in Week 15.
The Raiders have won just two games in the 2024 season and sit in dead last in the AFC West. They’ve also dropped each of their last 10 games, giving them the longest losing streak in the NFL.
