Sports news giant ESPN parted ways with Boston Celtics icon Paul Pierce recently, and the development is apparently going to hit Pierce’s wallet quite hard.

According to a recent report, Pierce was being paid well over $1 million per year for his job with the network.

“ESPN parted ways with NBA legend Paul Pierce, sources told Front Office Sports,” the site reported. “Pierce shared live Instagram video of himself smoking and playing poker in a room full of exotic dancers on Friday night. The 43-year-old was earning around $1.5 million annually for his on-air gig, said one source.”

The aforementioned video made the rounds on social media over the weekend. Clearly, Pierce was either not worried about his standing at ESPN or did not think that his posts could threaten his position.

Shortly after it was announced that Pierce was no longer employed at ESPN, it was reported that adult webcam site CamSoda had offered him a job.

Only time will tell if Pierce takes the site up on its generous offer.
