At the moment, the New York Knicks have the No. 11 pick in the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft. Though that pick could offer the Knicks a chance to grab a solid rookie, it is rare for truly elite prospects to fall that far in the draft.

For that reason, the Knicks are reportedly interested in trading multiple first-round picks in a package for the No. 4 overall pick in the draft.

The belief is that the Knicks would make such a move to ensure their ability to select Purdue University product Jaden Ivey.

The current owners of that pick are the Sacramento Kings.

“People in touch with Sacramento say that in the club’s conversations with New York, the Knicks have talked about offering multiple first-round picks in a package for the No. 4 pick,” Ian Begley of SNY.tv reported. “I don’t know which players were offered, but it wasn’t enough to lock a deal in.

“Negotiations with the Kings for the No. 4 pick will probably extend into Thursday evening.”

Very recently, Ivey spoke glowingly of the Knicks and made it clear that he’d love to play alongside rising star R.J. Barrett.

Beyond that, the Kings do not really have much of a need for a guard like Ivey on their roster. Players like De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell already claim a lot of the minutes in the backcourt.

Whether or not the Knicks can put together a package interesting enough to convince the Kings to move their pick is unclear.

With just a couple of days until the draft takes place, this rumor will certainly be one for both Kings and Knicks fans to keep an eye on.
