Report: Ravens expected to explore contract extension with Lamar Jackson this offseason

The Baltimore Ravens reportedly are expected to explore a contract extension with star quarterback Lamar Jackson this offseason.

“In the offseason, the focus for the Baltimore Ravens could be at the bank,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said. “From what I understand, the team is open to a big-time contract extension for star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

“Expect them to explore this in the offseason, likely in the spring or early in the summer. He’s got one year left on his deal. They’re going to pick up the fifth-year option and this is a team that is always open to early deals if it benefits both sides.”

Jackson led the Ravens to a playoff victory last week against the Tennessee Titans. He will have a chance to get them to the AFC championship game on Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills.

Jackson still represents himself, as Rapoport notes, and it is likely both sides will want to hammer out a long-term deal.

The 2019 NFL MVP didn’t put up crazy numbers this regular season, but he still threw for 26 touchdowns and ran for another seven.

Jackson also totaled over 1,000 rushing yards for the second consecutive season.

Clearly one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, Jackson should receive a big payday from the Ravens this offseason.
