Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will play in the AFC Championship Game this upcoming Sunday.

The Chiefs lost their star quarterback during Sunday’s playoff game versus the Cleveland Browns.

Mahomes, 25, went down in the third quarter and was forced to miss the rest of the game. He was diagnosed with a concussion shortly after his exit.

Nonetheless, the Chiefs secured a 22-17 win over the Browns. Backup quarterback Chad Henne came in for Mahomes and held down the fort.

Over the course of the week, Mahomes has taken important steps to return to the field. However, it was until Friday that his status for the game was assured.

The Chiefs take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday for a spot in the Super Bowl.
