The San Francisco 49ers may select a quarterback in the upcoming NFL draft, but it looks like they tried to nab a superstar passer first.
According to a recent report, the Niners contacted the Green Bay Packers about a potential trade surrounding Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers’ future with the Packers has been somewhat murky after he expressed uncertainty regarding his future with the team.
Still, the team has given no indication that it plans to move the reigning MVP.
Last year, Rodgers passed for an eye-popping 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns and just five interceptions all while completing 70.7 percent of his throws.
Without a doubt, that kind of production at the helm would make the 49ers clear contenders in the NFC.
However, it looks like the discussion didn’t go very far before the Packers slammed the door on the whole conversation.
