When Daryl Morey announced that he would be parting ways with the Houston Rockets, many around the league expected that it would only be a matter of time until he wound up with another NBA franchise.
It looks like that time is about to come, as Morey is reportedly in advanced talks to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
A deal is expected to be finalized in the next few days, and Sixers GM Elton Brand is expected to remain in his current position, sources said. https://t.co/fHb5Mds9yG

The addition, along with the addition of new head coach Doc Rivers, makes it quite clear that the 76ers are looking to take the leap from playoff team to title contender.
In fact, it looks like Morey’s relationship with Rivers likely played a role in his decision to join the franchise.
Conversations with the Sixers and Daryl Morey started shortly after his departure from Houston, escalated in recent days and will culminate with Morey becoming the Sixers new President, sources tell ESPN. Doc Rivers and Morey have a strong relationship and history together.

Last season, the 76ers’ campaign ended in disappointment, as they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Boston Celtics.
With Morey on the staff, fans can expect a new approach to constructing the team’s roster. Morey has proven that he is willing to deal in the past.
Only time will tell what that will mean for the players currently on the roster.
