Veteran guard Patrick Beverley made some waves on social media on Sunday night after he issued some tweets regarding superstar point guard Chris Paul.

Of course, the tweets had to do with the fact that Paul and his Phoenix Suns were embarrassed in incredible fashion by the Dallas Mavericks in Game 7 of their series. The score of the elimination game was an astounding 123-90.

Beverley’s first tweet came in response to former NBA guard Jeremy Lin. Lin expressed hope that Paul will one day win a title because he “deserves” one. Beverley took issue with that.

On Monday morning, Beverley made an appearance on “Get Up” and spoke about the Suns’ Game 7 collapse. He made it clear that he sees no issue with criticizing Paul.

Paul is an interesting character in the NBA. Though he is very respected for his ability on the court and his competitive spirit, he has never won a title. In fact, he has a track record of somewhat falling apart in big moments. That was certainly the case in Sunday’s matchup.

Paul recorded just 10 points and four assists in 31 minutes of playing time. Moreover, the Suns were outscored by 39 points when he was on the floor. Those are not numbers anyone expected from the future Hall of Famer.

On Sunday, both the Suns and Milwaukee Bucks lost in their respective Game 7 matchups. That means that the 2022 NBA Finals will feature new representatives from each conference.

With just four teams left, things are sure to be quite entertaining from here on out.
