The James Harden sweepstakes may soon be coming to an end, with the Houston Rockets potentially on the verge of making a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

With a report surfacing that the two teams may be nearing a deal, the details of the potential trade have surfaced.

The potential deal features a massive package of draft picks heading to the Rockets.

“The Nets have prepared a package to Houston for Harden featuring all of their four future first-round picks and three future pick swaps, multiple sources said,” according to Sam Amick and Shams Charania of The Athletic.” This would place significant pressure on the team to win immediately and the potential partnership between two former star teammates in Harden and Kevin Durant. Nets general manager Sean Marks and his front office have built an impactful culture around their players, and have been able to keep strong future flexibility in the process. For the Nets, there could be hesitation to mortgage future assets with this type of ferocity. Brooklyn does not owe any extra firsts or have any owed to it, so it has four firsts and three swaps available.”

With Kyrie Irving’s status hanging in the balance as he deals with some personal issues off the court, the Nets may be ready to make a move and capitalize on this season now that Kevin Durant is back and healthy.

The Rockets are also surely motivated to put an end to the Harden speculation so the team can focus on the future with John Wall taking over as the face of the franchise.

The potential haul of draft picks in this blockbuster deal would be ideal for Houston. The franchise would be able to start from scratch while building around Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, while Brooklyn can continue to compete with Durant and Harden as one of the best duos in the league.
