The Phoenix Suns received a jarring bit of news after veteran guard Chris Paul entered the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Exactly how long Paul will remain in the league’s protocols is unknown.

The potential loss of Paul for any extended period would be devastating to the Suns’ chances of reaching the NBA Finals. However, they do have some breathing room because of their sweep of the Denver Nuggets and the fact that the series between the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers is currently deadlocked at two games apiece.

Paul has been a key factor in the Suns’ resurgence this season and is coming off the aforementioned sweep, with hopes that he will be able to reach the NBA Finals for the first time in his career.
